Bloomberg's latest article 'Bitcoin Jesus' Is Having a Hard Time Winning Over True Believers is damning for BCash. It shows data that, much like any other altcoin, bcash is barely used for any transactions.
Sadly, the article calls it "Bitcoin Cash" throughout.
BCash was not the first altcoin, and won't be the last. But it's the first altcoin to name itself confusingly close to Bitcoin. When bcash was created, all bitcoin holders also found themselves also owning bcash, this is known as an "airdrop". The first airdrop ever was the altcoin Clams from 2014, many other altcoins also used this airdrop method.
There's many reports of newbs accidentally buying bcash instead of bitcoin. This happens because people go along with the confusingly-similar name. Roger Ver's website bitcoin(dot)com is also filled with promotional material saying that bcash is "The Real Bitcoin".
Someone from twitter reports: no joke - friend of mine with no crypto knowledge tried to buy $500 worth of #Bitcoin. unknowingly used the https://Bitcoin(dot)com app, and accidentally bought #Bcash instead. @rogerkver is a scammer and his crooked marketing tactics are impacting innocent people.
Bloomberg and indeed all journalists have a responsibility to help stop people falling for fraud and con tricks. By calling the altcoin "Bitcoin Cash" they only help the fraudsters trick innocent newbs.
I've sent a message to Bloomberg asking them to not use the "Bitcoin Cash" name so they inadvertently don't help fraudsters.
