Where is the revolution? /u/WoosterTheWonderdog I'm a writer working on a story about the inherent corruption at the heart of our financial world. I'd like to better understand the rise of bitcoin and crypto and how it offers a better and fairer alternative to the current way of doing things. I have some knowledge of crypto as I started buying and trading as an experiment in November last year, I'm also very excited about the potential for Blockchain technology, but right now I'm more interested in the ideology that underpins it all - the fundamental belief at the heart of bitcoin and crypto that it will change the world for the better. So I have some questions. Feel free to correct any misinformation or tell me if I'm missing the point completely. (And if there's a better place to post this then let me know.) If the rise of bitcoin is a revolution, then where exactly IS the revolution? I.e. who is driving it? I get that it's a collective effort and fundamentally decentralized but is there someone at the centre of it all setting the agenda and leading the way? Who is the enemy? Is it simply the bankers? Does blockchain have the power to eradicate all potential corruption? You hear of fake ICOs and pump and dump schemes. Isn't everyone ultimately just out to make money? If not then what else can you do? Say somebody wasn't satisfied simply buying bitcoin and hodling, and they had the money and the means to do anything, what is the most extreme thing a bitcoin enthusiast can do to support the revolution? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. EDIT: I'm a screenwriter so very interested in what this world looks like. submitted by /u/WoosterTheWonderdog [link] [comments] | | Reddit | | |
