Confused about full nodes

Confused about full nodes /u/reddit89754 What if the first node I connect to when starting up mine for the first time is compromised in some way. Then I start downloading the blockchain from him and I am never on the real Bitcoin network. How is this prevented from happening? How would I know that this has happend?
